An attempt to discredit House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) by a liberal media site backfires because it implies he intends to take use of his congressional position for future lucrative lobbying possibilities and makes the erroneous allegation that he lacks personal wealth.
In an article headlined “Does New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson Have a Bank Account?” published on Wednesday, the Daily Beast questioned Speaker Johnson’s meek disclosures on his debts, assets, and investments. The author concludes the piece by contacting purported ethics experts to imply that Johnson has no retirement income at all and that the Louisiana legislator is susceptible to “influence buying” by special interests.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) responded to the piece by writing, “Cry more,” which prompted others to join in.
“So he can relate to the struggles that we’re all out here having? I’m supposed to be angry at this?” podcaster Joey Mannarino wrote.
“This is hilarious. We’re no longer going after the ones that have become multimillionaires while public servants, we’re now going after the ones that aren’t. God forbid someone in that Office has actual morals & ethics!” writes another Gaetz follower.”
ALERT! Major Water Restrictions In Effect!
Regardless of their political affiliation, members of Congress frequently see an increase in wealth while in office. They must, however, report each dollar they get during this period. Members such as Speaker Johnson are required by these ethical requirements to disclose information about their income, taxes paid, and stock ownership and transactions. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a well-known stock trader who has influenced legislation impacting corporations in which she had financial interests, is one example of how this criterion has historically resulted in issues.
Prepare yourself for a decisive fight in the political sphere! Democrats are gathering money for Speaker Johnson’s election quickly, starting a number of initiatives. They say the Louisiana Republican would undermine protections for abortion rights and LGBT rights in the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision. In the meanwhile, some Republicans in swing districts are bracing themselves for challenging reelection campaigns in the upcoming year. However, Speaker Johnson has previously demonstrated his capacity to raise large sums of money, offering optimism to incumbents who may profit from his capable leadership and plenty of resources.
Regarding the current criticism and unfavorable depiction of him as a “scary” Christian, Speaker Johnson says nothing. But his deeds speak louder than words. Johnson introduced legislation on his first day in office to satisfy President Biden’s $100 million aid request for Israel without adding to the debt of future generations. He proposed using the money that had been set aside to fortify the IRS to finance the package. Furthermore, Johnson is not going to hesitate to move forward with the House’s impeachment investigation of President Biden.
