He’s Out! Democrat Shakes Up 2028 Election!

In a surprising move that shifts the early contours of the 2028 Democratic primary landscape, Maryland Governor Wes Moore has declared he’s not seeking the White House — a decision that could open the door for more ambitious progressives to jump in.

While names like Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, and Pete Buttigieg are all swirling in the mix of likely presidential hopefuls, Moore is officially out. The freshman governor, seen by many Democrats as a rising star, told the Associated Press simply: “I’m not running.”

Moore also shut down any rumors that he was vying for a potential vice presidential slot, saying he wasn’t trying to get “his name in the conversation” for anything outside his current role.

But if that’s the case, why is he flying to South Carolina — a state known for being one of the earliest primary battlegrounds — to headline the Blue Palmetto Dinner?

Critics would say it looks like campaign behavior. Moore, however, insists it’s all part of his job.

“And people should get very used to me going all over the country bringing business back to Maryland, because that’s exactly what I plan on doing as long as I’m the governor of the state,” Moore said during a memorial event in Annapolis.
