In a striking and deeply personal revelation, Fox News primetime host Sean Hannity opened up about his decision to leave the Catholic Church, pointing to what he described as entrenched corruption within the institution. Speaking candidly on his show, Hannity made it clear that while his faith remains strong, his trust in the Church’s leadership does not.
Hannity did not mince words when explaining his break from Catholicism, emphasizing that his departure was not sudden, but the result of years of growing concern over scandals and misconduct that he believes were never properly addressed.
“As of today, I no longer consider myself a Catholic. I am a Christian,” Hannity said. “I left the Catholic church in large part due to the institutionalized corruption, and it was at the parish level, to the bishop level, cardinals, all the way to Rome.”
Rather than citing a single defining moment, Hannity pointed to what he sees as a systemic failure spanning decades. According to him, the Church’s inability or unwillingness to fully confront its internal problems played a major role in his decision to walk away.
