For someone who has previously aligned himself with far-left gender ideology, this was a shocking statement. Newsom even doubled down.

But Greg Gutfeld wasn’t buying it.
Greg Gutfeld instantly recognized Newsom’s maneuver as nothing more than political theater. Polls show that nearly 80 percent of Americans oppose biological males competing in female sports. Newsom’s comments seemed tailor-made to appeal to moderates.
But Gutfeld exposed the governor’s real game plan.
“Except he’s still lying,” Gutfeld fired back.
Newsom wasn’t actually rejecting radical gender policies—he was just trying to appear reasonable in front of a conservative audience. And Gutfeld pointed out that Newsom still parrots leftist talking points that mislead parents into accepting transgender medical procedures for their children.
“He said that the trans are a group prone to suicide because people don’t accept them. There is absolutely no data on that, and it’s a dangerous fact. In fact, the study — the data shows dramatic increases in depression post-trans surgery. Why is that not surprising?” Gutfeld noted.
Gutfeld slammed Newsom for promoting the same manipulative scare tactics that doctors use to pressure parents into approving irreversible medical procedures for their children.
“What’s crazy about this and what’s so wrong about what he said is remember the story you were told, doctors pressuring parents into surgery for their kids by asking this one question, would you rather have a dead son or a living daughter? That was a criminal question, a criminal lie,” Gutfeld continued. “Every doctor who asked that question should be disbarred and perhaps charged with something, because that’s the same lie that Gavin is pushing.”
While the media refuses to acknowledge it, research shows that transgender surgeries do not improve mental health outcomes. A study from the University of Texas examined 100,000 individuals who experienced gender dysphoria. The findings were damning.

“Males with surgery had depression rates of 25% compared to males without surgery (11.5%). Anxiety rates among that group were 12.8% compared to 2.6%.” a Fox News report revealed. “The same differences were seen among females, as those with surgery had 22.9% depression rates compared to 14.6% in the non-surgical group. Females who underwent surgery also had anxiety rates of 10.5% compared to 7.1% without surgery.”
The numbers speak for themselves. Yet Newsom continues pushing debunked narratives that serve his political interests rather than the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
Gavin Newsom wants to paint himself as a champion for fairness in women’s sports. But the reality is, he’s playing both sides—desperate to appeal to moderates while still catering to his far-left base.
