Greg Gutfeld Just Shared DEVASTATING News

Benedict Ogbodiegwu Jr., 26, was arrested and charged with murder after investigators said surveillance footage captured the horrifying encounter.

The killing occurred shortly before 11 a.m. near Double File Trail Elementary School.

According to an arrest affidavit, Wimsatt was sitting peacefully on a bench when a man carrying a knife approached him from behind.

Investigators allege the attacker placed an arm around Wimsatt before repeatedly stabbing him in the neck.

Wimsatt desperately tried to defend himself, authorities said, but he was unable to get away.

Even after the 62-year-old collapsed, police allege the assault continued before the attacker finally left the scene.

A woman discovered Wimsatt suffering from devastating wounds at approximately 11:15 a.m. and contacted authorities.

The investigation quickly turned to surveillance cameras in the surrounding area.

Police said footage apparently showed the suspect later appearing at a nearby McDonald’s in different clothes before getting into a red SUV associated with his family.

Detectives eventually confronted Ogbodiegwu with an image taken from surveillance footage.

According to authorities, he initially acknowledged that the individual pictured was him but subsequently denied being inside the park.

He also allegedly told investigators he had a twin, yet authorities said he could not provide the supposed twin’s name.

Police later searched an area near Ogbodiegwu’s residence and reportedly discovered a trash bag containing clothes resembling those seen in the surveillance footage.

Investigators also recovered a large knife.

Authorities said preliminary testing indicated the blade was positive for blood.

Perhaps most disturbing is what investigators believe was missing from the case: a motive.

Police have said there is no indication Wimsatt and Ogbodiegwu knew one another before the encounter, leading investigators to characterize the killing as apparently random.

Wimsatt had reportedly just returned from visiting his mother at a nursing home before his life was suddenly taken.

But the story soon reached far beyond Round Rock.

For Gutfeld and several of his Fox News colleagues, Wimsatt wasn’t simply another name appearing in a crime report.

They knew him.

Wimsatt had spent years quietly helping media personalities he followed by recording, preserving and distributing clips of their television appearances.

An accomplished engineer, Wimsatt earned three degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.

Away from his professional career, however, he developed another reputation online — that of an extraordinarily generous supporter who routinely gave his time to others without demanding anything in return.

Gutfeld remembered Wimsatt as “supremely gentle, willing to do just about anything for another person.”

George Timothy Murdoch, the Fox News contributor and professional wrestler better known as Tyrus, offered his own remembrance.

He described Wimsatt as “always positive … with a monster laugh.”

Kat Timpf similarly recalled a man whose generosity appeared to come without strings attached.

“Andrew was a rare person: Genuinely kind just for the sake of it; it quite clearly never occurred to him to expect anything in return.”

Wimsatt reportedly created video clips for members of Timpf’s online community and archived television appearances for other commentators, apparently without seeking compensation.

Those relationships transformed an otherwise distant crime report into a painful loss for people who had communicated with him for years.

The murder charge is also bringing renewed attention to Ogbodiegwu’s previous encounters with authorities.

He previously faced a felony theft case in 2017, but the charge was dismissed.

Ogbodiegwu was arrested on another theft allegation in January 2026.

Court proceedings in that case reportedly included an order for a competency evaluation, followed by a commitment for competency restoration.

That charge was eventually dismissed as well.

Then came another arrest in May involving an allegation that Ogbodiegwu provided false identification to police.

That case was also dismissed.

He is now facing the far more serious accusation of murder in connection with Wimsatt’s death.

The prior dismissals do not establish responsibility for the Labor Day killing, and Ogbodiegwu is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless prosecutors prove the murder charge in court.

Still, the history will inevitably raise questions about what happened during his earlier encounters with the justice system and how a man who had repeatedly come into contact with authorities ultimately became accused of an apparently random daylight killing.

For Gutfeld, Tyrus, Timpf and others who knew Wimsatt from years of online interaction, those legal questions come second to something much more personal.

They lost a friend and supporter.

Wimsatt apparently never became famous for the countless clips he created or the hours he spent helping other people.

He wasn’t looking for attention.

Instead, those who knew him remember a man who quietly showed up, helped whenever he could and expected virtually nothing in return.

Now the people whose work he spent years supporting are using their platforms to make sure Andrew Wimsatt isn’t remembered merely as the victim named in another police report.

He is being remembered for the kindness that came before the violence — and for the generosity that made an otherwise ordinary viewer unforgettable to the people he supported.
