A wave of mysterious drone sightings is causing alarm along the East Coast, with concerns ranging from national security threats to potential environmental hazards. The unexplained presence of these drones has left local officials and residents searching for answers, and even New York Governor Kathy Hochul has expressed apprehension over the situation.
Radiation Spikes Raise Alarm
Reports of elevated radiation levels in New York City have added a troubling dimension to the mystery. GQ Electronics’ Geiger Counter World Map detected spikes well above typical background radiation, particularly in the Upper West Side of Manhattan and the Bronx. While NASA explains that background radiation usually remains under 60 counts per minute (CPM), the Bronx recorded an alarming 1,000 CPM at its peak, with Manhattan’s Upper West Side hitting 175 CPM.

Belleville, New Jersey, Mayor Michael Melham voiced concerns that the drones might be searching for radioactive materials that could have gone missing from a local port. “This could be about something far more dangerous than we initially assumed,” he suggested.
