Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma has criticized the Biden administration for what he believes to be its faulty reporting on illegal immigration into the country. This issue was raised by The Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive exposé. Now that Americans are eager to learn whether or not their government has been truthful, he is seeking answers and justice.
Senator Lankford asked the DOJ and ICE for crucial details about how they record information about immigrants who are released without supervision or tracking. ATD program participants were the subject of incorrect data being published, according to earlier DCNF investigations, leaving many undocumented people without a safety net.

When it came to tracking technologies for illegal immigrants who had been released into the US, the DCNF discovered a startling discrepancy between reported and actual data. ICE miscalculated the number of releases without monitoring by more than 18,000% and the number of GPS-tracked people by over 600%.
The organization quickly took corrective action after realizing its mistakes and apologized for it.

“It has come to my attention that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) may have been providing the public with inaccurate data regarding the populations of migrants who are monitored through ICE’s Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program. According to these reports, ICE significantly overstated the population that is being monitored by the Global Positioning System (GPS) ankle monitor technology,” Lankford wrote.
While requiring them to wear electronic monitoring devices, ICE recently found itself unable to account for hundreds of thousands of unauthorized immigrants they had admitted to the nation. In response to Senator James Lankford’s recent letter, which further highlighted concerns about this possible security breach, ICE said that it was unable to produce any documents pertaining to these people.
“I am concerned that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) may have filed ICE’s inaccurate data on ATD to either special masters who assess ICE’s compliance with settlement agreements and stipulations or to judges as part of briefings in immigration litigation. It is possible that ICE’s long-standing data integrity issues have led to false or misleading court filings in these cases,” Lankford wrote.
Sen. Lankford recently sent a letter to Congress criticizing the nation’s escalating migrant crisis: As part of a record-breaking 2.3 million encounters with migrants in 2022 thus far, Customs and Border Protection reported an unprecedented 250k encounters with migrants in only one month in December.
