Rep. Chuck Edwards Ends Re-Election Bid After Damaging House Ethics Report
North Carolina Republican Rep. Chuck Edwards has announced he is ending his campaign for another term in Congress just days after a bipartisan House Ethics Committee report recommended that he be formally censured by the full House of Representatives.
The surprise announcement came only a little more than 48 hours after the committee released a lengthy report detailing allegations that Edwards engaged in repeated inappropriate conduct toward two young female staff members. While the panel stopped short of accusing the congressman of violating federal sexual harassment law, investigators concluded there was substantial evidence that his behavior violated the standards expected of members of Congress.
