A fiery congressional hearing this week turned into a viral moment after Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) went head-to-head with a self-described diversity expert, leaving him visibly flustered and exposed for lacking answers on fundamental questions about race, hiring, and equality.

During a House hearing titled “Sacrificing Excellence for Ideology: The Real Cost of DEI,” Gill launched a relentless interrogation of Dr. Shaun Harper, a University of Southern California professor who focuses on race and gender equity. Harper was invited by House Democrats to defend Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, but instead found himself cornered by a string of pointed questions he seemed unwilling—or unable—to answer directly.
Right out of the gate, Gill demanded to know:
“Do you believe that America should be a color-blind society?”
Harper, caught off guard, fumbled for words:
“I…”
