Pennsylvania has officially flipped a Senate seat red following a sweeping Republican win in the state. Backed by former President Donald Trump, Republican candidate Dave McCormick emerged victorious against longtime Democrat Senator Bob Casey, a high-profile figure in the Keystone State for over 15 years. The win marks a significant shift, reflecting Pennsylvania’s changing political landscape and deepening GOP influence.
President Trump’s endorsement played a substantial role in McCormick’s campaign. Trump, who won Pennsylvania by a two-point margin in the 2024 election, voiced his full support for McCormick earlier this year. Speaking highly of McCormick, Trump stated, “I am officially giving my endorsement to David McCormick tonight. He’s a good man. He wants to run a good ship. He’s a smart guy, who was a very successful guy. He’s given up a lot to do this.” The endorsement bolstered McCormick’s appeal among conservative voters, helping him secure the crucial victory in this battleground state.

The race, however, was not without its share of controversy. Despite McCormick leading by more than 30,000 votes, Casey initially refused to concede, sparking tensions and extending the race’s outcome. On Thursday afternoon, the Associated Press officially called the race in favor of McCormick, confirming a close yet decisive victory. McCormick garnered 3,340,649 votes, capturing 49% of the vote, while Casey received 3,308,961 votes, earning 48.5%.
