Fox Star, 48, Gets LIFE Behind Bars!

‘The person I knew as gentle, kind Angie did not just murder her mom; she ambushed Anita while Anita was in bed asleep,’ she said.

Kreutziger continued by describing the circumstances as particularly disturbing because they were so different from the woman the family believed they knew.

‘This was so out of character for the Ange we thought we knew, so devastating, so calculated, so demonic.’

According to court documents, police arrived at the residence and found Avers unresponsive in her bedroom. She had suffered numerous stab wounds to her face and torso and was wearing only underwear and a bra.

Investigators also documented a disturbing scene near the victim. Several kitchen knives and a cheese grater were reportedly found ‘laid out on a pillow’ beside Avers. Authorities said ‘all the utensils had blood on them,’ according to the affidavit.

Mock herself contacted emergency services following the attack.

But the explanation she initially gave authorities was dramatically different from what investigators would later uncover. Mock claimed she had been defending herself against her mother.

According to the affidavit, Mock told a dispatcher that ‘her mother tried to kill her, so she stabbed her in return.’

When police arrived, they encountered Mock outside the residence. She was reportedly holding a towel against her hands, which were covered in blood.

Avers was transported to a hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

Mock later provided investigators with an account of what she said happened inside the bedroom. She claimed she entered the room and saw her mother ‘sharpening knives.’ According to court documents, Mock alleged that Avers then ‘came after her with a knife and fought her.’

Mock claimed her mother made a bizarre statement during the confrontation.

‘I know you’re f***ing Jesus Christ,’ police recorded Mock as saying her mother told her.

Mock told investigators she initially moved away from her mother before eventually taking hold of a knife and attacking her.

According to the affidavit, Mock said she ‘and got on top of her.’

She also offered another explanation for the violence, telling investigators that her mother had ‘started spewing venom at me out of her f***ing mouth,’ according to court documents.

As investigators continued examining the circumstances surrounding the killing, Mock provided yet another detail about why she had gone into her mother’s bedroom.

She reportedly told police that she had entered the room to discuss an ‘upcoming job interview with KSN because she was a news anchor,’ according to the affidavit.

KSN is an NBC affiliate serving the Wichita area.

Mock had previously built a career in television news. She worked as an anchor at KTVI Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 through 2015 and later held a position with KOKH Fox 25 in Oklahoma City.

Her television career eventually came to an end, however.

Mock’s stepfather, Barry Avers, reportedly told police that she had previously worked at the St. Louis station ‘before being laid off after an explosive situation involving alcohol,’ according to authorities.

At the time of her arrest in connection with her mother’s death, Mock was reportedly working in sales for a data management software company.

The case also raised questions about Mock’s mental competency before the proceedings moved forward. She underwent a competency evaluation before entering her guilty plea.

A judge ultimately determined in July that Mock was competent to stand trial.

The case then reached its conclusion with Mock’s guilty plea and Monday’s sentencing.

During the sentencing hearing, Mock made only brief remarks to the court. She told the judge that she did not intend to appeal her conviction or sentence.

The sentence brings an extraordinary and tragic chapter to a close for a woman who once worked in television news and appeared before viewers in multiple American media markets.

Instead of continuing a career in broadcasting, Mock will now spend decades behind bars for the killing of her own mother.

For Avers’ family, however, the sentence cannot undo what happened on Halloween 2025. The life sentence marks the legal conclusion of the case, but the disturbing circumstances surrounding the death of an 80-year-old woman in her own bedroom will likely remain with her loved ones for years to come.
