The longtime Fox personality then made sure the people working behind the cameras received recognition as well.
Compagno thanked the production staff responsible for bringing “Outnumbered” to television every weekday, singling out executive producer Trina Thompson while praising the professionalism of the entire operation.
“And to the incredible crew on this stage, my executive producer Trina Thompson, and to our entire ‘Outnumbered’ team, whose dedication, professionalism, and sheer talent are the reason for this show’s excellence day in and day out,” Compagno said.
Her farewell concluded with a simple message signaling that viewers will not have to wait long to see her again.
“It has been an extraordinary privilege and an honor to serve as a co-host of ‘Outnumbered’,” she added before signing off with a nod to her next assignment: “From now on, see you at 5:00.”
Compagno is scheduled to make her debut as a permanent member of “The Five” on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
She will join a lineup that already includes some of Fox News’ most recognizable personalities, including Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters. Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov rotate in the program’s liberal seat.
The promotion represents a major career milestone for Compagno and comes as Fox News makes changes around one of the most valuable properties in its programming lineup.
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott praised Compagno following the announcement, calling her a “standout” and pointing to the “energy and talent” she has demonstrated across the network.
Compagno’s departure also creates a significant vacancy at “Outnumbered.”
Rather than immediately naming her successor, Fox plans to use a rotating lineup of network personalities in the open chair while executives determine who will ultimately take the permanent position.
That decision could draw considerable attention given the visibility that comes with appearing every weekday on the network’s noon program.
Compagno’s rise at Fox has been years in the making.
She joined the network as a contributor in 2018 and quickly became a familiar presence across its programming. Before receiving a permanent position on “Outnumbered” in January 2021, she was already making frequent appearances on that show as well as “The Five.”
Now she is moving from occasional appearances on “The Five” to a permanent seat at the table.
And the numbers demonstrate just how significant that assignment is.
According to Nielsen figures released by Fox, “The Five” averaged approximately 3.6 million viewers during the second quarter of 2026.
The show also averaged 322,000 viewers among adults ages 25 to 54, the demographic closely watched by cable news advertisers.
Perhaps even more striking, “The Five” finished its 19th consecutive quarter as cable news’ highest-rated program.
Those numbers have turned the 5 p.m. roundtable into one of Fox News’ crown jewels, making Compagno’s promotion one of the network’s most prominent on-air assignments.
When Fox first announced the move last month, Compagno made clear how much the opportunity meant to her.
“I am grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started,” she said.
Her emotional Friday farewell now officially brings her long tenure as a permanent “Outnumbered” co-host to an end.
But unlike many television goodbyes, Compagno isn’t leaving Fox News or disappearing from viewers’ screens.
Instead, she is moving into an even more prominent role.
After years of helping anchor the network’s midday conversation, Compagno will now become a permanent voice on the program that has dominated the cable news ratings for years.
