Tensions erupted this week after former President Donald Trump declared that a major Iranian nuclear weapons site had been completely destroyed in a U.S. military strike. But as the dust settles, conflicting reports out of Israel and Washington are casting doubt—and fueling controversy.
Speaking at the NATO summit Wednesday morning, Trump dropped a bombshell, claiming that the Iranian nuclear facility at Fordow had been inspected by intelligence teams and found to be “obliterated” following a series of B-2 stealth bomber strikes.
However, Israeli Knesset Member Aryeh Deri is pushing back hard. In a statement to Israeli outlet Kikar Hashabbat, Deri contradicted Trump’s bold assertion.
“No one knows—because no one has visited there yet,” said Deri. “According to all the statistics, assessments, and satellite imagery, damage has been caused there.”
Deri’s comments suggest that while satellite data hints at significant destruction, no one on the ground has verified Trump’s claims.
