Two people in Michigan have died in connection with a massive foodborne parasite outbreak that sickened thousands of Americans across the country this summer.
The deaths were associated with cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the multistate outbreak was traced to processed iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico, a processor based in central Mexico.
