A group of former immigration judges—fired suddenly and without fanfare—are lashing out at former President Donald Trump after being let go over email. The dismissals have sparked controversy in liberal circles, but critics say it’s more political theater than legitimate grievance.
Over 100 immigration judges have exited since the start of Trump’s presidency, either through termination or resignation. The Department of Justice trimmed the bench again in July, removing 20 more judges. Among those shown the door were George Pappas, Jennifer Peyton, and Carla Espinoza. Now, the three are running to the media, portraying themselves as victims of an administration they claim pressured them to dismiss immigration cases.
“It was arbitrary, unfair,” Pappas told CBS News in an on-air complaint. “And it’s an attack on the rule of law. It’s an attack on judges.”
The real story? President Trump promised to restore order to America’s broken immigration system. What we’re witnessing now is the backlash from a judiciary class that had become far too comfortable with leniency—and accountability is finally knocking.
