President Donald Trump has spent months publicly criticizing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell for refusing to slash interest rates, but now the fight has escalated into something far more damaging for the embattled Fed chief.
This time, Trump isn’t just attacking Powell’s monetary policy. He’s targeting what he calls a jaw-dropping construction disaster that may be the most expensive government renovation project ever attempted.
According to Trump, the ongoing renovation of the Federal Reserve’s Washington, D.C. headquarters has ballooned to nearly $4 billion, a figure that dwarfs earlier projections and raises serious questions about leadership, transparency, and accountability at the central bank.
“The Most Expensive Construction Job Ever Built”
Trump made his case during an interview with Larry Kudlow on Fox Business, where he didn’t hold back.
“It’s the most expensive construction job ever built anywhere in the world per square foot,” Trump said during his Fox Business appearance.
Trump contrasted the spiraling costs with his own experience in private-sector development.
