FBI’s Secret Stat Trick Just Got EXPOSED!

But CPRC dug deeper. They found 561 active shooter incidents in that same time frame, and out of those, 202 were stopped by armed citizens. That’s not 3.7%. That’s 36%—nearly ten times higher than the FBI’s numbers.

And here’s the real bombshell: if you take out so-called “gun-free zones,” where law-abiding citizens are barred from carrying, the success rate skyrockets to 52.5%.

That means more than half the time, when citizens are allowed to defend themselves, they stop mass killers in their tracks.

FBI’s Dirty Tricks

So how did the FBI’s numbers get so far off? The answer is simple—they cooked the books.

CPRC revealed that the FBI was deliberately mislabeling heroic citizens as “security guards” to downplay civilian gun use.

Take the 2019 church shooting in White Settlement, Texas. A parishioner drew his weapon, shot the gunman, and saved countless lives. But according to the FBI, he wasn’t an ordinary churchgoer—he was filed as a “security guard.”

Even worse, the FBI excluded cases where armed citizens scared off attackers. In the Bureau’s twisted logic, forcing a mass shooter to flee doesn’t count as stopping them. They also tossed out shootings they labeled as “domestic disputes” or “retaliation murders.”

Media Runs Cover

The corporate press has happily parroted these bogus FBI numbers. Why wouldn’t they? It fits their narrative.

Look at the 2022 Greenwood, Indiana mall shooting. That’s when 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken took down a gunman who had already killed three people. Police called him a hero. But outlets like Reuters and CNN rushed to insist that such heroism was “uncommon.”

CPRC President John Lott pushed back hard, writing:

“Of course, law-abiding citizens stopping these attacks are not rare. What is rare is not citizens stopping these attacks—it’s the national news covering it.”

He’s right. The mainstream media doesn’t want to admit that the average American is capable of defending themselves.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just a debate over statistics. It’s about the FBI and the media teaming up to deceive the public on a fundamental right.

Former Justice Department official Theo Wold explained it clearly:

“The cascading effect is incredibly deleterious. When the Bureau gets it so systematically wrong, it shapes the entire national debate.”

And that’s the game plan. A tragedy strikes, Democrats wave around fake FBI data, and suddenly we’re told we need more “gun-free zones” and stricter carry laws.

But the real numbers prove the opposite: ordinary citizens are often the first and best line of defense. In fact, a Trafalgar Group poll in 2022 showed that 42% of voters believe armed civilians are the best protection against mass shootings, compared to just 25% who trust local police.

That’s almost a two-to-one margin in favor of the Second Amendment.

And what did the FBI say when pressed on their cooked numbers? Nothing. The Bureau went silent—too busy, perhaps, figuring out how to manipulate next year’s stats.

Americans should be asking themselves a simple question: if the FBI is willing to lie about something this important, what else are they hiding?
