Minnesota Governor Tim Walz appeared confident he could openly challenge President Trump’s immigration agenda without consequences. That confidence appears badly misplaced.
Federal authorities have now stepped in, and the fallout has sent shockwaves through Minnesota’s Democratic political establishment. The FBI has issued six subpoenas as part of a sweeping criminal investigation into whether top state and local officials illegally interfered with federal immigration enforcement.
According to multiple reports, the FBI served subpoenas to six Minnesota government offices, including those connected to Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Attorney General Keith Ellison. St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her, along with officials in both Ramsey and Hennepin counties, were also reportedly targeted.
The subpoenas are tied to a federal grand jury investigation examining whether Minnesota Democrats conspired to obstruct Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. Investigators are seeking communications, records, and testimony related to public statements and actions that may have impeded federal law enforcement officers from carrying out their duties.
