A former NCAA Division I basketball standout who played for four major college programs is now at the center of a federal criminal investigation after being taken into custody by the FBI, according to multiple reports.
Kerr Kriisa, a 25-year-old guard from Estonia, was arrested by FBI agents in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 3. Authorities confirmed that he is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center while awaiting extradition to West Virginia, where he is expected to appear before a federal court in the coming days.
The arrest reportedly stems from a federal fraud investigation tied to Kriisa’s lone season at West Virginia University during the 2023-24 campaign. While investigators have not publicly disclosed the full scope of the allegations, reports indicate the case is connected to a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme. As of now, many of the details surrounding the investigation remain under seal or have not yet been released.
