In an astonishing turn of events at the RICO trial of rapper Young Thug, attorney Brian Steel found himself behind bars for contempt of court on Monday. The drama unfolded when Steel, who represents the acclaimed rapper, legally known as Jeffrey Williams, was ordered by the judge to disclose a confidential informant and failed to comply.
Judge Ural Glanville, presiding over the case, demanded Steel reveal his source after learning of a breach involving confidential information from a private hearing. “I’m going to give you five minutes. If you don’t tell me who it is, I’m going to put you in contempt,” declared Judge Glanville. Steel’s response was immediate and defiant: “I don’t need five minutes.”

Following a brief recess, the situation escalated. The judge again pressed Steel for information. “Mr. Steel, I’m going to ask you again. I need you to tell me how you got this information. This is so sacrosanct to have a conversation in my chambers parroted to you,” he stated. Moments later, a deputy approached Steel, whispered to him, and subsequently escorted him into custody.
