American seniors are facing a new kind of predator — one armed with artificial intelligence.

For years, phone scams and phishing emails have preyed on the elderly. But now, the game has changed. AI is giving criminals the ability to tailor attacks with terrifying precision, and the results are leaving families devastated.
The FBI’s Billion-Dollar Warning
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has already raised the alarm about what it calls the Phantom Hacker Scam. This scheme alone has drained over $1 billion from seniors since 2024.
But according to cybersecurity expert Pete Nicoletti, the threat has evolved into something far more dangerous.
“The criminals are actually using artificial intelligence to look for those type of characteristics and profiles,” Nicoletti told Fox News Digital.
