Europe’s Automakers Just Dodged DISASTER!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

According to the White House, this single action could save American families up to 109 billion dollars in the next five years.

Trump went further and announced that California’s special emissions waivers would also be revoked after the Senate voted to overturn them earlier this year. For automakers who rely on national consistency, this was another huge win.

Biden’s rulebook demanded an average of 50.4 miles per gallon by 2031. That was never a fuel standard. It was a forced electric vehicle plan disguised as regulation. Biden’s team wanted a 2 percent yearly increase from 2027 through 2031. Without massive EV adoption, meeting that target would be mathematically impossible.

Luxury brands from Europe were staring at disaster. Porsche depends on North America for roughly one third of its global sales. Signature models like the 911 and Cayenne do not have electric versions that could replace gasoline demand. That left two choices. Rush untested EVs that could destroy their brand reputation or swallow enormous federal fines.

Trump cut the required mileage down to 34.5 miles per gallon. For the first time in years, automakers could actually breathe.

Executives quickly voiced their relief. Ford CEO Jim Farley called the shift basic common sense. “As America’s largest auto producer, we appreciate President Trump’s leadership in aligning fuel economy standards with market realities,” Farley said. He added that automakers can still improve efficiency without punishing consumers.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa thanked the administration for restoring something Biden’s policies eliminated. Filosa praised policies that allow consumers “the freedom to choose the vehicles they want at prices they can afford.”

Even General Motors applauded the move and said a single national standard is far better than Biden’s maze of conflicting rules.

Analysts said the reversal was widely expected and could even influence Europe’s own climate agenda. Market expert Martino De Ambroggi pointed to reports that the European Union might soften or fully revise its 2035 ban on combustion engines. In other words, Trump’s move gave political cover for Europe to admit its green revolution is failing.

Volvo Cars said it was still reviewing the impact but conceded the company already shifted toward hybrid expansion in the United States. Their timelines stretch as far as 2029 which shows how long they were preparing for Biden’s unrealistic targets.

Environmental activists exploded in predictable outrage. Dan Becker from the Center for Biological Diversity’s Safe Climate Transport Campaign complained that Trump’s rollback “will feed America’s destructive use of oil, while hamstringing us in the green tech race.”

Becker never mentioned American families paying more than 50 thousand dollars for new cars under Biden’s pressure campaign. He never mentioned the jobs at risk. Just the green agenda that voters have repeatedly rejected.

Consumer Reports even admitted that fuel economy improvements from 2003 to 2021 happened without major price spikes. The group found “no systemic, statistically significant increase” in inflation adjusted vehicle prices while efficiency jumped 30 percent. They also noted consumers saved “7,000 dollars in per vehicle lifetime fuel savings for model year 2021 vehicles compared with model year 2003.”

That was progress earned through innovation, not Washington force.

Bank of America analysts said Trump’s actions remove massive compliance costs and restore operational flexibility. European brands with large United States footprints like Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes Benz stand to gain the most.

Trump campaigned on ending what he called Biden’s electric vehicle mandate. This week he delivered the biggest blow yet. American families get relief. Automakers get room to survive. And Biden’s climate crusaders get a message they cannot ignore.

Trump just changed the auto industry again. And the world noticed.
