A prime example? Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband, Paul Pelosi. Their impeccable stock market timing has long raised eyebrows, yet they continue to escape scrutiny.
Paul Pelosi notably dumped over $500,000 in Visa stock just before the Department of Justice announced an antitrust lawsuit against the company. When the lawsuit was made public, Visa’s stock price plummeted by 5.5%. The timing of the sale sparked speculation about whether Pelosi had insider knowledge.
President Donald Trump has demanded accountability. “Nancy Pelosi sold vast amounts of Visa stock one day before the big lawsuit that we all read about a few days ago,” Trump said. “She should be prosecuted… Nancy Pelosi should be prosecuted for that.”
This isn’t the first time the Pelosis’ stock trades have defied market odds. Their investments have consistently outperformed Wall Street, fueling speculation of insider dealing.
In 2023, the Pelosis’ portfolio reportedly delivered a 65% return, dwarfing the S&P 500’s 24% gain.
In 2022, Paul Pelosi bought over $1 million in Nvidia call options just before Congress passed a major subsidy package for the semiconductor industry. That same year, he offloaded 20,000 Google shares in December—just weeks before the DOJ filed an antitrust lawsuit against the company.
Despite the controversy, Nancy Pelosi denies any wrongdoing. She insists she does not own stocks and has no role in her husband’s financial decisions.
Musk offered a provocative solution: either pay politicians nothing or a lot more to curb their incentive for corruption. However, even he acknowledged that wouldn’t fully fix the problem.
“Maybe we should either pay politicians nothing or a lot more. It’s somewhat counterintuitive, but if politicians got paid a lot more, then they wouldn’t feel like there’s such a forcing function for them to accept corrupt money,” Musk suggested.

Joe Rogan quickly shut down the idea.
“Yeah, but the problem is, even if you paid them a lot more, they’re still not going to make as much money as they would insider trading,” Rogan pointed out.
And he’s right. The system is rigged. Washington, D.C. isn’t filled with public servants—it’s controlled by career politicians whose only goal is power, wealth, and control.
Perhaps the most chilling moment of the interview came when Musk admitted that exposing corruption could cost him his life.
“I mean, this is really going to get me assassinated. I’m not lengthening my lifespan by explaining this stuff, to say the least,” Musk said. “I was supposed to go back to D.C.—how am I going to survive? This broker is going to kill me for sure. In fact, I do think I actually have to be careful that I don’t push too hard on the corruption stuff because it’s going to get me killed.”

Earlier this month, Musk vowed that X (formerly Twitter) will start investigating how federal employees manage to amass tens of millions of dollars despite their modest government salaries.
“We do find it sort of odd that there are quite a few people in the bureaucracy who have essentially a salary of a few hundred thousand dollars but somehow manage to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position,” Musk said.
“We’re just curious as to where it came from. Whether they have very good investing in which that case we should take their investment advice perhaps,” he added. “They seem to be mysteriously getting wealthy and we don’t know why – where did it come from? I think the reality is that they are getting wealthier at the taxpayer expense.”
Musk continued, “There are massive amounts of blank checks that just go out…”
The corruption in Washington runs deep. And as Musk warns, exposing the truth is dangerous. The question is—how long can this charade continue before the American people demand real accountability?
