California’s election officials are facing a new round of federal scrutiny just as voters prepare to head to the polls.
The Justice Department has escalated its battle over approximately 20,000 disputed ballots, issuing grand jury subpoenas to employees at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s office.
Federal prosecutors are now seeking internal records that could reveal how election officials handled warnings about potential noncitizen voting.
