In a bold move against what they describe as an unlawful monopoly, Elon Musk’s X platform has launched an antitrust lawsuit, filed in Texas federal court, against a prominent left-leaning advertising alliance. The lawsuit seeks trebled compensatory damages and injunctive relief, targeting the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), its parent organization, the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), and several major member companies, including CVS Health, Mars, Orsted, and Unilever. These corporations allegedly control an overwhelming 90% of global marketing efforts, giving them significant power over the advertising industry.
The lawsuit accuses these entities of orchestrating an illegal ad boycott against X, effectively weaponizing their dominance in the advertising world to suppress conservative voices. According to Musk, this boycott is not just a business decision but an attempt to stifle free speech and undermine platforms that allow conservative content.
