A sweeping federal trucking enforcement operation across the Midwest has removed hundreds of drivers and commercial vehicles from service, giving the Trump administration fresh ammunition in its escalating battle over who should be allowed behind the wheel of America’s biggest trucks.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin have made commercial-driver enforcement a major priority, particularly when it comes to non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses and foreign drivers who allegedly fail to meet federal requirements.
