The legal team for Hunter Biden allegedly threatened to call Joe Biden, the Big Guy, as a witness in the court case involving the president’s son. According to Fox News, Chris Clark, Hunter’s former attorney, issued this warning in a letter to federal prosecutors in October 2022 after it was revealed that the Department of Justice had gathered sufficient evidence to justify pursuing an indictment. Mr. Clark threatened to call in the president, who would “unquestionably” testify in support of his son if the DOJ brought up Hunter’s purchase of a handgun despite having a history of drug addiction.

Clark wrote, “President Biden now unquestionably would be a fact witness for the defense in any criminal trial.” In the letter, Clark stated that the Justice agency’s decision to indict his client would raise the possibility of a “constitutional crisis” if the President, who oversees the agency, were to testify in behalf of his son. Therefore, Clark wrote, “[t]his of all cases justifies neither the spectacle of a sitting President testifying at a criminal trial nor the potential for a resulting Constitutional crisis.”
It was assumed that Clark’s last-week withdrawal from Hunter Biden’s legal team was due to his being called as a prospective witness. Clark stated: “A lawyer shall not act as an advocate at a trial in which the lawyer is likely to be a necessary witness unless … disqualification of the lawyer would work substantial hardship on the client.”

The possibility that Clark may testify about the conditions he believed he was obtaining for his client has increased as a result of the plea bargain blowing up over the specifics of the immunity provided to Hunter Biden by the government. The court remarked that the relatively lenient conditions of the plea agreement were “not standard” and “different from what I normally see”. Leo Wise, the government’s lawyer who assisted in negotiating the settlement, fully agreed with the judge’s analysis. Mr. Wise stated that he was not aware of any recent examples of a deal with such favorable conditions.
