DOJ Conviction Sends Shock Through Sinaloa Cartel!

Federal prosecutors announced Tuesday that a fifth person has been convicted in a sprawling methamphetamine trafficking ring in Minnesota, connected to the notorious Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico.

Eric Anthony Rodriguez, 47, was found guilty in U.S. District Court on charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute the drug. The verdict followed a six-day trial overseen by Judge Susan R. Nelson.

Authorities say Rodriguez was a key participant in the “Diaz-Aguilar Drug Trafficking Organization,” which operated throughout Minnesota between April 2024 and March 2025, according to Fox News.

The criminal network reportedly moved large shipments of meth, sometimes totaling hundreds of pounds, into the state. The group was led by Erick Emilio Diaz-Aguilar, 33, who had previously pleaded guilty, along with co-defendants Juan Martin Elvira Jr., 36, Edward Gonzalez, 30, and Bruce Michael Orton, 44.
