Federal prosecutors have charged a prominent Tampa-area physician, Dr. Stephen Andrew Leedy, with a disturbing array of crimes connected to the exploitation of minors. The case has shocked the local community and raised further concerns about the state of law enforcement priorities under the current administration.
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the arrest of Dr. Leedy, 59, of St. Petersburg. The physician, who specializes in palliative care, faces life in federal prison if convicted. The charges include three counts of producing child sexual abuse material and two counts of coercing or enticing minors to engage in sexual activity.

Court documents detail the appalling actions of Dr. Leedy, who allegedly used the username “maximumuncle#9112” to victimize at least ten minors online. The indictment states that Leedy not only coerced these minors into creating explicit images but also directed them to engage in self-harm, including cutting, choking, and hanging themselves. Tragically, one of his victims, identified as “Minor Victim 1,” was found deceased in November 2021, having hanged herself in a manner consistent with Leedy’s instructions.
