The left’s relentless obsession with “resisting” Trump may finally be backfiring. In California — the bluest of blue states — even Democrats are growing tired of the anti-Trump circus. According to Politico, a separate poll revealed that most California voters — despite nearly half of them being registered Democrats — do not want their next governor to build a campaign on opposition to Trump’s policies.
That spells trouble for names like Gov. Gavin Newsom and Vice President Kamala Harris, both of whom are reportedly eyeing the 2028 race. If their only message is “Orange Man Bad,” they may want to start crafting a Plan B.
Meanwhile, President Donald J. Trump is riding high. According to MassLive, 50% of Americans back his immigration policies, and many voters see him as the one leader who’s actually defending America’s values. From national security to democracy to the Constitution itself, Americans are increasingly turning to Trump to lead the charge.
Perhaps most telling: 53% of voters say they trust Trump to “put the interests of ordinary Americans first.” That’s a major indicator that his America First economic agenda — especially his tough stance on trade — is resonating with everyday Americans.
Even some of the Democrat base is showing signs of admiration. In a moment that sent shockwaves through liberal media, United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain gave Trump credit for using tariffs to bring jobs back to America. “Trump’s tariffs helped to bring work back,” Fain said Sunday, in a comment that caused MSNBC host Simone Sanders Townsend to nearly fall out of her chair. When Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was pressed to respond, he looked visibly shaken.
The momentum isn’t stopping. Just two days before the UMass numbers dropped, another poll by Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies — in partnership with HarrisX and The Harris Poll — showed Trump holding steady with 48% support among registered voters. Only 46% disapprove, while 6% remain undecided.
Voters also back Trump’s trade policies. Half of respondents support placing tariffs on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada to help boost U.S. manufacturing. That’s a crystal-clear endorsement of Trump’s protectionist trade strategy.

And when asked to judge his overall performance, 56% said Trump is doing better than expected or meeting expectations — a solid vote of confidence as the 2024 race draws nearer.
The contrast couldn’t be clearer. As the Democratic Party sinks into disarray, bogged down by identity politics and a stale message, Trump is building momentum with working-class Americans, union workers, and independents who see results — not rhetoric.
If Democrats don’t course-correct fast, they may be handing the White House back to Trump on a silver platter.
