In a move that has sparked outrage among many, California continues to push the boundaries of its progressive agenda. The state is on the verge of offering interest-free home mortgage loans to illegal immigrants under a new bill, raising concerns about fairness and fiscal responsibility.
Democrat Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, representing Fresno, introduced Assembly Bill 1840, a piece of legislation designed to extend a first-time homebuyer loan program to illegal immigrants. This proposal, if passed into law, would make illegal immigrants eligible for a loan covering 20% of the purchase price of a home. The catch? The loan would come with no monthly payments, and no interest would accrue.

The repayment terms of the loan are also noteworthy. Borrowers would not be required to make any payments until they either sell or refinance the property. At that point, they would need to pay back the original loan amount along with 20% of any increase in the property’s value. For many, this raises the question of whether California is setting a dangerous precedent by offering such favorable terms to individuals who are in the country illegally.
