Democrats SILENCED by Latest Business Numbers

The Federal Trade Commission even pushed the Combating Auto Retail Scams Rule, treating every dealership like a criminal operation.

Meanwhile, Attorney Generals in Democratic strongholds filed lawsuits claiming dealerships were ripping off customers with hidden fees or deceptive sales tactics.

Washington Democrats cheered as some dealerships faced fines exceeding $50,000 per violation.

The message was unmistakable: government bureaucrats know better than the free market.

But Americans just shattered that theory.

Trust in dealerships soars without government intervention

Capital One’s 2025 Car Buying Outlook delivered a report that should make socialists squirm.

Nearly 70% of car buyers now say they trust dealerships—a massive jump from just 44% two years ago, at the peak of Democratic attacks on business.¹

Democrats claimed businesses needed government oversight to earn customer confidence. The numbers now prove they were lying.

Dealerships didn’t need Washington to force good behavior. They figured it out themselves, because that’s exactly how the free market works: reward the businesses that serve customers well, punish the ones that don’t.

“Dealers who bring together technology with in-person experiences are creating the kind of trust that keeps customers coming back,” said Sanjiv Yajnik, President of Capital One Auto.²

The survey also found that buyers familiar with digital tools were even more trusting, with 71% saying they feel confident in their dealership interactions.³

When trust is earned, customers are twice as likely to return for their next purchase.⁴

This is capitalism working perfectly, without any government interference.

Democrats’ regulations backfired

Remember when Democrats insisted dealerships were hiding fees and deceiving customers?

In 2024, a survey found 76% of Americans claimed they didn’t trust dealerships on pricing.⁵

The reality, however, was far different—only about one-third of customers actually encountered deceptive practices.⁶

That glaring gap exposed the Left’s orchestrated smear campaign. Democrats manufactured a crisis to justify more government control.

Meanwhile, dealerships adapted on their own. They realized customers wanted to research online but still wanted the final say in-person.⁷

Dealers leveraged digital tools as a competitive edge, with 86% acknowledging their advantage—up more than 25 percentage points since 2021.⁸

No government mandates required these improvements; free enterprise simply responded to customer demand.

The free market delivers what government cannot

The survey revealed that in-person shoppers were more likely than online buyers to find their car purchase transparent.⁹

Forty percent of in-person buyers reported a transparent experience, compared to just 18% of online shoppers.¹⁰

In-person shopping also brought more excitement and satisfaction than digital-only transactions.¹¹

Those who shopped partially in person felt greater control over the deal.¹² Nearly half of recent buyers credited manufacturers for bolstering trust, compared with just 20% in 2024.¹³

The industry improved itself through competition and innovation, not government threats.

Democrats spent years claiming businesses would exploit customers without strict regulation. The opposite occurred.

Free enterprise produced better service, clearer transactions, and higher satisfaction than any bureaucratic program ever could.

This surge in dealership trust reinforces what conservatives have long known: American businesses thrive when government steps aside and lets the market do its job.
