LaCombe’s defection, which inflicted yet another severe political blow, is the most recent setback for Democrats in the state. Even though they still reside in the governor’s house, they appear to have diminished in power and influence.

State Representative LaCombe recently changed his political affiliation, bolstering the GOP’s already strong supermajority in Louisiana’s legislature. After a similar action by Rep. Francis Thompson, this solidifies the GOP’s control over state politics. This move may have substantial ramifications, so it will be fascinating to observe how it develops over the next few months.

According to The Advocate:

A Democrat legislator recently decided to abandon the Democratic party and join the Republican one, causing a major upheaval in the state House. The Republicans won a supermajority on this historic occasion, enabling them to overturn vetoes and enact significant tax reforms. As a result, the GOP celebrated with a press gathering that garnered a lot of interest.

LaCombe switches tactfully and keeps his motivations a secret. The revelation, which was made on Monday, suggests a clandestine plan. What possible reason might there be for such a covert action? Time will only tell.

A number of urgent concerns will be addressed by the Republican-led Legislature as it convenes in Baton Rouge to begin its regular legislative session. There is undoubtedly no shortage of work to be done, from tackling complex insurance issues to distributing new tax income to tackling contentious culture war issues in an election year. In the midst of all this activity, one lawmaker has made a crucial choice that will undoubtedly rock the statehouse and beyond. Follow along to learn more about what is certain to be a turning point in Louisiana politics.

LaCombe still upholds “the same values,” according to a statement from House Democratic Caucus Chair Sam Jenkins.

State Representative Tricia Cotham made national news when she gave Republicans a supermajority in the House, ushering in a political upheaval that shook North Carolina. Cotham’s decision was widely reported and met with fierce opposition from both sides of the aisle, in contrast to colleague Congressman LaCombe’s comparatively understated flip.

At a fiery news conference, Cotham blasted the party for shutting out moderate lawmakers and people who dared to stray from the radical Democratic agenda.

  1. Why are you running are you afraid of what the Democrats party are doing for the world by not letting the Republicans do to the people the things that they are trying to do by keeping them from having what they have. Just because we can’t get something pass through the House is a reason for you to leave the Democrats party. And the reason why the Republicans are doing what they are do is because they are afraid of what Donald Trump would do to them. You all are letting the people suffer all just for power and money been greed. None of the Party really care about the people they supposed to be representing and that is the bottom line.
