In a striking scene beneath the rugged hills of Arizona, former President Donald Trump visited the U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday, spotlighting what he claims to be the glaring differences between his border security policies and those of his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris. The event, centered around the theme “Make America Safe Again,” underscored Trump’s message of tough-on-border security, a cornerstone of his political platform.
The visit took place along a dirt road near a stretch of wall constructed during Trump’s administration, where a pile of unused steel beams sat nearby. Trump used the contrasting images to criticize the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to border security. He was joined by a group of supporters that included grieving mothers, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels, and Paul Perez, the president of the Border Patrol union.
