A staffer for a Democratic California lawmaker found himself in federal immigration custody after arriving at a Las Vegas airport, putting a spotlight on the Trump administration’s tougher approach to immigration enforcement at domestic airports.
Ho Yin Mo, a field representative for California Assemblymember Catherine Stefani, D-San Francisco, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at Harry Reid International Airport on September 17.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Mo originally entered the United States legally in January 2020 on a temporary visa.
