A Michigan Democrat desperate to gain traction in a future Senate race is now trying to score headlines by targeting Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. with impeachment articles — a move critics say reeks of political opportunism rather than genuine concern for public health.
Rep. Haley Stevens, who is widely expected to run for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat in 2026, unveiled her accusations this week and immediately set off a political firestorm. Stevens framed her move as a moral stand, but even members of her own party are openly questioning her motives.
In a statement posted to her congressional website, Stevens blasted Kennedy, declaring, “Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has turned his back on science, on public health, and on the American people — spreading conspiracies and lies, driving up costs, and putting lives at risk.”
She continued doubling down, insisting, “Under his watch, families are less safe and less healthy, people are paying more for care, lifesaving research has been gutted, and vaccines have been restricted. He has driven up health care costs while tearing down the scientific institutions that keep Michiganders and families across America safe.”
