Deadly Bus Crash Caught on Camera

What began as an ordinary travel day for dozens of families ended in unimaginable devastation. A passenger bus packed with men, women, and children making their way from South Africa to Zimbabwe and Malawi never reached its destination. Instead, their journey turned deadly when the bus plunged off a winding mountain highway, flipping upside down in a ravine.

The crash unfolded Sunday evening around 6:00 p.m. on South Africa’s N1 highway, near Ingwe Lodge between Louis Trichardt and Musina. That stretch of road is notorious among locals for its steep drops, sudden curves, and history of deadly accidents.

The passengers were traveling from Gqeberha in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, headed toward Zimbabwe and Malawi. Somewhere along that treacherous pass, the driver lost control. The bus barreled off the highway and tumbled down the mountainside like a crumpled tin can.

When it finally came to rest, the massive vehicle was upside down—shattered glass everywhere, twisted metal crushing the roof, and the sounds of survivors crying out in pain.
