In a shocking turn of events, an Iraq War veteran who acted in self-defense during a confrontation with a pro-Hamas agitator is now facing criminal charges that could land him behind bars for years. Scott Hayes, a 47-year-old resident of Framingham, Massachusetts, was involved in an altercation that quickly escalated during a protest in the Boston suburb of Newton, Massachusetts.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a small group of pro-Israel demonstrators gathered in Newton. According to multiple witnesses, the peaceful protest was suddenly disrupted when a man, who has yet to be publicly identified, began shouting and making obscene gestures at the group. The individual, described as a supporter of Hamas, crossed the street through oncoming traffic and violently tackled Hayes, who was holding an American flag at the time.
