In a case that has captured nationwide attention, a Wisconsin woman has been awarded $760,000 after suing a local police department over her controversial 2020 arrest. Stephanie Rapkin, then 63, filed the lawsuit claiming her Fourth Amendment rights were violated during the incident.
The events began on June 6, 2020, when Rapkin was filmed spitting on a Black Lives Matter protester during a demonstration, according to the New York Post. The footage of the incident quickly went viral, igniting public outrage and calls for action.

The following day, Shorewood police arrived at Rapkin’s home, accompanied by a crowd of protesters who demanded her arrest. According to a complaint reported by Atlanta Black Star, tensions escalated when Rapkin emerged from her home and pushed a protester who confronted her about the spitting incident.
