A newly surfaced detail in the investigation surrounding former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial “86 47” Instagram post is raising fresh questions about what Comey knew before sharing the image publicly.
Investigative reporter Paul Sperry reported Friday that an FBI search-warrant affidavit indicates Comey’s wife, Patrice Comey, sent her husband a screenshot showing a Google search result defining “86” shortly before the former FBI director uploaded his now-infamous photograph.
According to Sperry, the timing was remarkably close: the message allegedly arrived just two minutes before Comey published the post.
