At the heart of the controversy is a cryptic image Comey allegedly posted online. The image showed seashells arranged to form the numbers “86 47.” While it may appear harmless at first glance, prosecutors argue the meaning behind the numbers is anything but innocent. In certain contexts, “86” is widely understood as slang for eliminating or getting rid of someone, while “47” is seen as a reference to Trump’s presidency.
