CNN Analyst Makes a HUGE Mistake!

The results come as both parties prepare for a closely watched election cycle that will determine control of Congress for the remainder of Trump’s second term.

The 71 Percent Figure That Challenges Expectations

The polling numbers offer an important snapshot of voter intentions heading into November.

Democrats have spent months emphasizing the importance of participation in the midterms, while Republican strategists have faced questions about whether Trump’s supporters will maintain their motivation after a turbulent period in Washington.

Trump Survivor Coin

Steve Bannon, the former Trump adviser and host of the War Room podcast, has expressed concerns about enthusiasm within the MAGA movement, describing it as a “massive lack of enthusiasm.”

The figures presented by Enten, however, suggest that MAGA Republicans remain highly motivated to participate, at least when measured by whether they say they are certain to vote.

That finding does not necessarily mean Republicans will match Democrats in actual turnout. Voters can change their plans, and stated intentions do not always translate into ballots cast. Nevertheless, the figures indicate that the enthusiasm gap between these two groups may be smaller than some observers have suggested.

The results also highlight the importance of distinguishing between Trump’s core supporters and other Republican voters.

Trump’s Support Among MAGA Republicans Remains Strong

Enten also examined whether Trump has lost ground among MAGA Republicans since the 2024 presidential election.

The figures he discussed showed that Trump received 99 percent of the MAGA Republican vote in his contest against Kamala Harris. His current approval rating among that same group stood at 98 percent.

Enten addressed the comparison directly.

“In the 2024 election versus Kamala Harris, he got 99 percent of the MAGA GOP voteβ€”perhaps surprisingly, I might have thought it’d be 100 percent, but it was 99 percent,” Enten said. “Compare that to his approval rating now with the MAGA GOP. It’s 98 percent; there’s been no real decline in MAGA support.”

The figures indicate that Trump’s standing among his core supporters has remained exceptionally high.

That finding is significant for understanding the Republican coalition. MAGA Republicans represent a particularly loyal segment of the party, and their continued support could matter in competitive congressional districts and states where turnout is decisive.

However, approval of Trump is not necessarily the same as approval of every Republican candidate or every administration policy. Nor does strong support within one segment of the electorate establish how the broader voting population feels.

The distinction will become increasingly important as the campaign moves toward Election Day.

Turnout Motivation Could Become a Critical Factor

Other polling figures discussed by Enten have also highlighted differences between MAGA Republicans and Republicans who do not identify with the movement.

In a separate CNN segment, Enten noted that 60 percent of MAGA-identifying Republicans said voting in the 2026 midterms was more important to them than voting in previous midterm elections.

Among Republicans who did not identify as MAGA, the corresponding figure was 36 percent.

Those numbers suggest that enthusiasm within the Republican Party is not uniform.

While Trump’s core supporters report substantial motivation, Republican candidates may still need to address concerns among voters outside that group.

For Democrats, the challenge is similarly straightforward: enthusiasm must translate into participation across the constituencies needed to win competitive races.

The figures also complicate broad claims that Republican voters are uniformly disengaged. At the same time, they do not establish that the entire GOP electorate is equally motivated.

Why the Midterm Numbers Matter

Midterm elections frequently turn on which party succeeds in getting its supporters to the polls.

In 2018, Democrats won control of the House of Representatives, gaining 41 seats according to the final official House results. The election demonstrated how shifts in turnout and voter preferences can reshape congressional power.

The 2026 contest presents a different political landscape, but the underlying importance of participation remains.

Republicans are seeking to retain control of Congress, while Democrats are working to win enough seats to take over one or both chambers.

A finding that Democrats and MAGA Republicans are equally certain to vote is therefore relevant, but it cannot independently predict the outcome.

The 71 percent figures measure stated voting intentions within two specific groups. They do not account for every factor that determines election results, including the number of voters in each group, the behavior of independents, candidate quality, district boundaries and the distribution of competitive races.

National enthusiasm figures also cannot establish which party will win a particular House or Senate contest.

The Road to November

The polling provides evidence that Trump’s core supporters continue to express strong approval of the president and substantial interest in participating in the midterms.

It also offers a reminder that the Republican electorate includes voters whose motivations and attitudes differ considerably.

For Democrats, matching MAGA Republicans in stated certainty to vote means that enthusiasm among their own supporters remains an important part of their electoral strategy.

For Republicans, the challenge extends beyond maintaining loyalty among Trump’s strongest supporters. The party must also determine whether that enthusiasm can be sustained across its broader coalition and converted into votes in competitive races.

With November approaching, the central question is no longer simply whether MAGA Republicans remain supportive of Trump. The polling suggests that they do.

The larger question is whether the motivation reported by both parties will hold through Election Dayβ€”and how that participation will be distributed across the districts and states that will decide control of Congress.
