CBS News aims to avoid repeating the backlash that ABC faced after its moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, frequently interrupted former President Donald Trump during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month. The moderators’ attempts to “fact check” Trump in real-time were called into question, as some of their corrections turned out to be misleading or flat-out wrong.

One such blunder involved a correction regarding full-term abortions. ABC’s moderators denied that any state permits full-term abortions, disregarding former Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s well-documented support for the practice. Another error occurred when they claimed that no evidence exists of pets or local wildlife being harmed by illegal aliens in a small Ohio town. This claim was made despite police reports and citizen testimonies indicating otherwise.
