The political Left and its media allies erupted into outrage this week over an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Minnesota, confidently declaring they had uncovered proof that the Trump administration was targeting children. Within hours, a dramatic narrative took hold: federal agents were supposedly snatching a five-year-old boy from his family and using him as leverage during an immigration arrest.
The story went viral almost instantly. Progressive activists, cable news pundits, and Democrat politicians amplified the claims without hesitation. But as often happens when emotion outruns evidence, the facts caught up—and they demolished the narrative entirely.
According to the viral version of events, ICE agents descended on a home in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, and deliberately targeted a five-year-old child. The boy was allegedly taken as “bait” to lure family members out of the house.
Representative Ilhan Omar quickly labeled the incident “vile.”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris expressed outrage over reports the child had been detained in Texas.
Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin publicly claimed ICE had detained a five-year-old child.
