Conservative commentator Candace Owens is not backing down after being slapped with a defamation lawsuit from French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte. Instead, she’s going on offense—calling the case a “globalist smear attempt” and doubling down on her claims with renewed intensity.
Earlier this week, the Macrons filed a 219-page lawsuit in Delaware state court, accusing Owens of spreading false and damaging rumors. The case centers on Owens’ repeated allegations that Brigitte Macron is biologically male—a claim the French couple says has caused them immense harm and global ridicule.
According to the lawsuit, Owens engaged in what the Macrons call a “relentless and unjustified smear campaign” through her social media accounts and an eight-part podcast series. They argue that her comments were not only false but designed to generate clicks, attention, and financial gain.
“She has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade,” the lawsuit states, as quoted by The Independent. “The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale.”
