A former high-ranking California parks official who once carried law-enforcement authority is facing a sprawling criminal case over allegations that he secretly recorded lifeguards changing inside an employee locker room — and then distributed some of the footage to other men.
Kevin Pearsall, 59, appeared in an Orange County courtroom Thursday as prosecutors move forward with dozens of charges stemming from the alleged surveillance operation.
The Long Beach resident and former California State Parks superintendent has been charged with five felony counts of eavesdropping, 23 misdemeanor counts involving the secret recording of another person and three misdemeanor counts of illegally distributing private recordings, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
This is invasion of privacy. That’s illegal.
