Following last week’s Senate failure to approve this plan, Schumer unveiled yet another round of additional money for Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine.
Early on Tuesday, the Senate approved Schumer’s additional assistance plan, giving Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine a combined $95 billion. 22 Republicans disregarded the situation at the US border in favor of providing financial aid to other nations.
The House killed the $95 billion package. It was stopped by Speaker Johnson.
Mike Turner is raising the alarm about a sudden threat to national security involving Russia.
The timing seems off.
Chairman Mike Turner visited Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, last Friday.
“The United States is working diligently in the House of Representatives and the Senate to secure the funding that is necessary in 2024,” At a news conference in Kiev last week, Turner informed reporters.
Rep. Mike Turner requested Mike Johnson to move the Senate aid bill up quickly so that it might be put to a vote two days ago, on his return from Kiev.
“We have to get this done,” Mike Turner stated on Monday that since Ukraine is running out of ammunition, there was not a minute to waste. “This is no longer an issue of, ‘When do we support Ukraine?’ If we do not move, this will be abandoning Ukraine.”
“The speaker will need to bring it to the floor,” he said.
After being refused funds for Ukraine, Mike Turner is now exerting pressure on Speaker Johnson by declaring an immediate national security danger posed by Russia.
