According to Musk, the company is aiming to send its Starship rocket to the red planet by the end of 2026. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk further revealed that the upcoming Mars-bound Starship will carry Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus. This unexpected addition has raised speculation about the robot’s role in space exploration and colonization efforts. While Musk is hopeful that a manned mission could follow as early as 2029, he acknowledged that a more realistic timeframe would be 2031.

SpaceX has been pushing the limits of aerospace technology, and its Starship project is leading the charge. Described by the company as “the world’s most powerful launch vehicle ever developed,” Starship is designed to carry massive payloads, boasting a capacity of 150 metric tonnes when fully reusable and up to 250 metric tonnes in an expendable configuration.
