“The government also asks the court to incorporate the Order into Defendant’s conditions of release,” she wrote. “The court hereby DENIES that request without prejudice. Even assuming that request is procedurally proper, the court concludes that granting it is not necessary to effectively enforce the Order at this time.”
Just a few days ago, udge Chutkan decided to extend her gag order against President Trump in response to a number of remarks he made on social media that, in her opinion, would have breached the order if it had been in effect. Prior to this, the injunction was temporarily suspended while the president’s lawyers challenged it. But Chutkan enforced the directive once more, noting, “The right to a fair trial is not [Trump’s] alone, but belongs also to the government and the public.”
Controversy has been raised by President Trump’s open assessment of a plea agreement involving his former chief of staff. He called individuals who choose to take such bargains “weaklings” in a letter to his Truth Social followers. Chutkan made reference to this comment when the gag order was reinstated.
However, Trump seemed to break the gag order again a few hours after it was put into place, referring to his former Attorney General Bill Barr as a “RINO,” or Republican in Name Only, who “wasn’t up to the job.” Barr is expected to testify on his alleged role in coercing federal and state authorities to alter the results of the 2020 election in specific states.
Survey numbers for President Trump have increased as a result of his several felony convictions. He has not stopped going after Judge Chutkan; in a recent Truth Social post, he attacked her.
“I have just learned that the very Biased, Trump Hating Judge in D.C., who should have RECUSED herself due to her blatant and open loathing of your favorite President, ME, has reimposed a GAG ORDER which will put me at a disadvantage against my prosecutorial and political opponents,” Trump wrote.
