Editor’s note: This was originally published more than 15 years ago — in March 2008 — after researching then-candidate Obama. Raised in a broken home, his stepfather was a Muslim. As Barack grew up, he increasingly consorted with supporters of Islamic terrorism. Exhibit A: his decades-long relationship with a Hamas-supporting pastor named Jeremiah Wright. Wright amplified the mission of Hamas: to eradicate the Jews. He gave such a prominent terrorist figure publicity in his popular church newsletter. Wright also befriended the likes of Louis Farrakhan and Muammar Gaddafi. As one pundit summarized it, “Obama marinated in two decades of Jew hatred” at Wright’s church. Maybe someday we’ll get to the bottom of Obama’s zeal for funding the extermination of Jews.

Apart from the contentious and racially polarizing discourses of his long-serving “spiritual advisor,” details about Barack Obama’s highly kept associations with proponents of terrorism are starting to emerge. Here are six facts that every American needs to know. First, let’s discuss Obama’s actual views on the evil of radical terrorism.

Hamas manifesto published by Obama’s church

1. In July 2007, the Trinity Church bulletin featured a Hamas manifesto issued by Obama’s mentor and friend, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

One of the most significant pieces of the “Pastor’s Page” was a terrible book authored by a senior Hamas leader.

Our “militant” approach cannot be the deciding factor in and of itself. I will always be required to give in to the idea that Israel has a presumed “right to exist” in order to talk about my complaints, and to reject the ideas expressed in the 1988 charter of the Islamic Resistance Movement.

Why should Palestinians “recognize” the horrible crime that Israel’s founders perpetrated and that its warped, contemporary apartheid state continues to enforce?

Obama modified his opinions about proponents of terrorism “to get Jewish donors and votes.”

2. Debbie Schussel draws attention to Obama’s presence at a “Arab community event” in 1998, which was most likely a fundraiser for the Palestinian cause.

Obama’s close buddy and Palestinian activist Ali Abunimah invites you to an Arab fundraiser. Witness the controversial figure, the late Edward Said, who will be the main speaker. See the Obamas at this unique occasion.

Images from Abunimah’s website, which are shown above, depict Obama and his wife Michelle conversing while seated close to Said. In an essay that is a must-read, Abunimah claims that the Senator “changed” his publicly stated opinions from those he secretly held in order to win over Jewish supporters and votes.

“Obama’s about-face is not surprising. He is [doing what] is necessary to get elected…”

3. According to Ali Abunimah’s post at Electronic Intifida, Obama is hiding his genuine sympathies for Israel from the public.

..Obama and I last spoke at a meeting in Chicago’s Hyde Park in the winter of 2004. This happened during his primary run to win the Democratic nomination for the US Senate seat he currently occupies. Even though he was lagging in the polls at the moment, he was clearly determined.

I walked up to welcome him as he emerged from the cold and undressed. He gave a kind reply and offered to help, “Hey, I’m sorry I haven’t said more about Palestine right now, but we are in a tough primary race. I’m hoping when things calm down I can be more up front.” He mentioned my activity, saying, “Keep up the good work!” in reference to the articles I was writing for The Chicago Tribune that were critical of US and Israeli policies.

Obama’s shift in position might be depressing given his prior relationships with Palestinian Americans. Still, it shouldn’t be shocking. He is putting his election victory first and will keep doing so in order to cling onto power.

Sen. Obama has faced backlash for previously voicing anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian opinions.

Sen. Obama faced backlash in March 2007 for asserting that “Nobody is suffering more than the Palestinians.” Obama faced criticism for appointing a number of controversial advisors to his campaign, such as Samantha Power, Robert Malley, Susan Rice, and Zbigniew Brzezinski.

There are rumors that prominent Nation of Islam members are heavily involved in Barack Obama’s electoral campaign.

4: As Schussel initially revealed, sources close to the Obama campaign claim that the presidential candidate hires a number of members of the virulently racist “Nation of Islam” as key staff workers.

Obama’s recent shift in attitude toward the Nation of Islam and Farrakhan is in conflict with the reality that he still employs a large number of Farrakhan supporters in high-ranking roles on both his current and former campaign teams.

Obama on the security barrier with Israel

5: Obama was questioned by the Chicago Jewish News about his views on Israel’s security fence during his initial Senate campaign.

The wall separating the two countries is a stark illustration of this administration’s disregard for the need of peace.

Remind yourself that the security barrier has prevented countless innocent deaths and reduced the number of terror assaults to nearly nil. Innumerable suicide bombs have left hundreds injured and over 900 dead, but there is little doubt that the security fence has stopped the massacre of people.

Wright’s defense of terror might cause Obama problems in the near future.

6: Pastor Wright wrote in July 2005:

Get up! It’s time to confront Israel’s unlawful occupation of Palestinian land. Similar to the successful divestment movement that brought attention to South Africa, we must continue the divestment movement to educate Americans and the business world about the racism and injustice that the Palestinian people face under Zionism. Let’s draw attention to the bigotry of Zionism throughout the world and withdraw from companies and banks doing business with Israel.

Pastor Wright is cited by the Chicago Sun-Times as saying:

“When his enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli to visit Moammar Gadhafi — with [Louis] Farrakhan — a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.”

Indeed.

Update: Unbelievable Disclosure about Trinity United and Hamas Found by Scott over at Powerline

The subheading of the church bulletin atop the piece, which reads, “An official of the movement describes its goals for all of Palestine,” may be the most telling. That is, “all of Palestine,” which includes Israel, which Hamas claims is illegal and which it wishes to “liberate” for Islam.
